Tour of the Zuiderheide near Laren

You walk through the beautiful nature near Laren, on and around the Zuiderheide. This heathland stretches between Laren and Hilversum and you will find burial mounds and heathlands there. These 4000 year old burial mounds are known as 'De Zeven Bergjes' and are spread across the Zuider- and Westerheide. In the beautiful open purple heathland you will also find heathland fens. In the past, the fens were used to wash the cattle. You will also pass through a heathland where the forests took hold when the sheep disappeared from the area in 1962. Nowadays, cattle graze there again in a natural way.
