From the Twente peat area you can make a beautiful trip to Ootmarsum. First you drive to Geesteren and Vasse. You see the landscape slowly changing: from vast meadows to a gently sloping bocage landscape with stream valleys and bushes. The next town on your route is Ootmarsum. One of the first Twente churches was built here around 770. The town had a flourishing trade during the Middle Ages, but saw industrialization pass by. And you can see that: Ootmarsum has managed to preserve its historic character. Step off and enjoy the historic atmosphere. Further on you drive through the Springendal, a picturesque nature reserve that is also called the'Garden of the Netherlands\\\'. Via Mander and Langeveen you cycle back to De Johanneshoeve, a cozy and comfortable place to stay.
