From the Twente peat area you can take a beautiful trip to Ootmarsum. First you drive to Geesteren and Vasse. You see the landscape slowly change: from vast meadows to a gently rolling landscape with stream valleys and groves. The next town on your route is Ootmarsum. One of the first churches in Twente was built here around 770. The town had a flourishing trade during the Middle Ages, but saw industrialization pass it by. And you can see that: Ootmarsum has managed to retain its historic character. Step off for a moment and enjoy the historic atmosphere. Further on you drive through the Springendal, a picturesque nature reserve that is also called the 'Garden of the Netherlands'. Via Mander and Langeveen you cycle back to De Johanneshoeve, a cozy and comfortable overnight address.
