Cycling around the Nieuwkoopse Plassen

Get on your bike and discover the gem of the Green Heart: the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. From the saddle you see a typical Dutch landscape of grasslands, reed collars and low peat swamps. Many homes here are on an island that is only accessible via a small bridge. Along the way you will pass various sights, such as the Ark Pigeon. This flour mill is located in Bodegraven and originally dates from 1697. Further on, follow the small road that runs along the meandering Meije. Along this river you will see pollard willows, old farms and the almost sixty meter high white water tower from 1932. It is wonderfully quiet cycling here. The Woerdense Verlaat neighborhood was built near the lock in the Grecht, which was built in 1448. Stop off at Restaurant De Oude School for a snack or a drink!
