The Doldersummerveld
Almost the entire route takes you through the national park. After the Veluwe, this is the largest contiguous forest area in the Netherlands. Here you often hear nothing other than the whistling birds and the drumming of the black woodpecker that lives here. If you're lucky you might even catch a glimpse of this little bird. Along the way you cycle straight through the Doldersummerveld, a moist heath reserve that is maintained by grazing sheep. You also cycle past the sheepfold where the sheep stay overnight. In the associated information center you can learn more about the sheep and the environment. In the south of the area you will find a lookout tower that offers you a beautiful view over the Doldersummerveld.

The Schulte House
In Diever you cycle past the Schultehuis. This house was built in 1604 as an official residence for the Diever schulte. The schulte used to be responsible for maintaining public order and also had administrative and judicial duties. The Schultehuis is well preserved and church services were held there until 1989. Today you will find an archaeological museum in the house.
