Past prehistoric burial mounds in the border area

The Loozerheide is located on the Boshoverheide, on the border area of the Netherlands and Belgium. Heath, swamp and sand drifts predominate here. There are picturesque fens that are formed by seepage water finding its way to the surface, such as De Hoort and Ringselven. Galligaan grows mainly around the Ringselven, but the smallest hedgehog's head, creeping marsh plantain, uneven-leaved pondweed, thread sedge and loose and small bladderwort also grow on and around the water. The water has a healthy attraction for feathered species: the black-necked grebe, bittern, porcelain grouse, bearded grouse and little wood monkey like to come there. Many dragonflies float above the water and cold-blooded animals live on the banks: moor frogs, great crested newts and alpine newts.
