Get a breath of fresh air along the Maas

This route takes you along the beautiful nature along the Maas. You will also pass through some beautiful towns that lie like pearls on the river.

Juliana Canal
It is wonderfully peaceful here to cycle between the grasslands and the water. You pass through the old centers of Laak and Ohé, you also pass Het Geudje castle with its striking Maasland Renaissance facade from 1651. On the characteristic village square of Roosteren you see the monumental Sint-Jacobus de Meerkerk from 1843.

Maaseik
From Grevenbricht you cross the Maas and thus the border with Belgium. Cycling through the floodplains is also peaceful in the Belgian part of the Meuse Valley. You pass Bichterweerd, a nature reserve that partly consists of a lake created by gravel extraction. You will be amazed by the centuries-old Market in Maaseik. There are so many beautiful historic buildings here! There is also a statue of the Van Eyck brothers, the fifteenth-century painters who were born in Maaseik.
