Tour Haaksbergerveen, Ammeloer Venn and Lankheet

Your route starts at Camping Scholtenhagen. On your path you will find beautiful regional farms and other monumental houses. But you will also pass through some special nature reserves. This region once had an extensive raised bog area, of which the Haaksbergerveen is a beautiful remnant. The quiet Buurserzand is unique in Europe due to its size and wet character. You will see a mosaic of heathlands with hundred-year-old junipers, forests, small fields and some orchid meadows. Just across the border you will drive past the Ammeloer Venn in Germany, a nature reserve where many birds live. You will see many authentic Saxon farms here, such as in the village of Rekken. Finally you will discover Landgoed Lankheet. The history of this 500 hectare estate goes back to 1188!
