Tour of Haaksbergerveen, Ammeloer Venn and Lankheet

Your route starts at Camping Scholtenhagen. There are beautiful regional farms and other monumental houses on your path. But you also pass through some special nature reserves. This region once contained an extensive raised peat area, of which the Haaksbergerveen is a beautiful remnant. The quiet Buurserzand is unique in Europe due to its size and wet character. You will see a mosaic of heathlands with hundred-year-old juniper berries, forests, small fields and some orchid meadows. Just across the border in Germany you drive past the Ammeloer Venn, a nature reserve where many birds live. You will see many authentic Saxon farms here, such as in the village of Rekken. Finally, you will discover Lankheet Estate. The history of this 500 hectare estate dates back to 1188!
