Fishing town of Vlaardingen
Vlaardingen is the starting point of this cycle route. Fishing was once booming in Vlaardingen and that is why this city is also nicknamed 'herring city'. Nowadays there is no longer fishing in Vlaardingen, but the fishing history is still clearly visible in the city. For example, a monument on the Grote Visserijplein by Govert van Brandwijk commemorates the many fishermen from Vlaardingen who died at sea. From Vlaardingen you cycle through the polders to Delft. The route takes you along the edge of Delft through beautiful forest areas. Enjoy the sound of the birdsong and leave the hectic everyday life behind you. Then you set course for the town of De Lier.

At the end of the route you will arrive back in Vlaardingen. Relax on the terrace of the Delta Hotel to recover from your trip with a snack and a drink. You can also spend the night here in one of the comfortable hotel rooms. Then you can try route 133545 the next day.
Mill Aeolus
In Vlaardingen you cycle past the Aeolus mill. This round stone mill was built in 1790 as a flour mill. In 1914 the mill was dismantled and little more than a bare hull remained. In 1956 the mill was restored and restored to its former glory. The masonry of the flour mill was repaired in 2004 and 2005 and the Aeolus has been fully operational again since July 2005.
