From LauwersmeerPleasure! you can easily get to know Lauwersmeer National Park. You are the first to cross the dike, which was completed in 1969. The Lauwerszee was closed off with this dike and the Lauwersmeer was created. From the dike you have a beautiful view over the Wadden Sea. Via the Frisian Anjum you drive to Ezumazijl. Here you pass a flood lock that originally dates from 1672. The Dongerdielen pumping station dates from 1931 and, if necessary, can pump almost 1 million liters of water from the polder into the Lauwersmeer every minute. Further on you drive through the Kollumerwaard. Fishing ships once sailed here, after the draining of part of the Lauwerszee, a beautiful water-rich reed landscape was created here. Via Zoutkamp you drive back into the national park, where you drive through the Balastplaatbos and through Lauwersoog.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
