From LauwersmeerPlezier! you can easily get to know Lauwersmeer National Park. First you drive over the dike that was completed in 1969. This dike closed off the Lauwerszee and created the Lauwersmeer. From the dike you have a beautiful view over the Wadden Sea. You drive to Ezumazijl via the Frisian Anjum. Here you pass a lock that originally dates from 1672. Dongerdielen pumping station dates from 1931 and, if necessary, can pump almost 1 million liters of water from the polder into the Lauwersmeer every minute. Further on you drive through the Kollumerwaard. Fishing ships once sailed here, after the draining of part of the Lauwerszee a beautiful water-rich reed landscape was created here. Via Zoutkamp you drive back into the national park, where you drive through the Balastplaatbos and through Lauwersoog.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
