Description

Roosteren is a church village with approximately 1500 inhabitants. The village is located on the Maas opposite the Belgian town of Maaseik. The village originated at the confluence of the Rode Beek and the Geleenbeek, and was probably founded at the beginning of the eighth century. The name of the village is a combination of Roode Beek and Susteren. There are two beautiful castles near the village, Ter Borch Castle and Eijckholt Castle, which now houses catering establishments.
