Authentic Brabant villages around Cuijk

Your route starts at Het Grote Broertje in the lovely Grave. You cycle to Cuijk along the wildly rushing water mass of the Maas and fields and meadows that seem endless. It is said that Cuijk once had city rights. According to a legend, Cuijk sold those city rights to the village of Grave. Evidence for this story is lacking, but Grave is indeed a city unlike Cuijk. Many tanneries, candle makers, beer breweries and tobacco and cigar companies have settled in Cuijk, making it the center of this region. On the edge of the village of Beers you cycle past the De Hoop mill. This was used for a time as a bark mill for tanneries in Cuijk and later it was switched to grinding grain.
