Tour of Heino, Wijhe and Olst

The IJsselvallei is an exciting natural landscape with moist, dark deciduous forests, where ferns grow at the foot of immense trees, but also a blue grassland with rare plants and animals. The IJssel, a branch of the Rhine, is a total of 125 kilometers long. From the fifteenth century onwards, this river became less and less suitable for water traffic because it began to silt up. As you make your way along the winding floodplains of the IJssel, you can enjoy a beautiful scenic landscape. You pass the Elshof mill (hull/remains) in the village of the same name. The mill body reveals that it was an octagonal tower mill.
