Tour of Bunde, Maastricht and Itteren

You first cycle past the Bunderbos, a sea of trees that extends over a length of five kilometers. The ribbon-shaped forest covers a number of Maas terraces in the Maas valley. The Bunderbos is mainly known for the occurrence of the fire salamander. Borgharen Castle is the first sight you encounter. The baroque-style center wing from the seventeenth century forms the main building. The heavy pavilion towers and the lower service wings were built in a beautiful Maasland Renaissance style. Geulle Castle is an outer castle of a castle that was demolished in 1847. You can reach the gatehouse via an arched bridge over the moat. On the other side of the road you will see fence pillars from the eighteenth century.
