Tour of the IJssel, Olst and Deventer

From Deventer you cycle a considerable distance along the floodplains of the IJssel. Cycling along the dike you have a beautiful view of the rippling water. You pass several old farms and the mill Houdt Braef Stant from 1856. In Olst you can see, among other things, the late medieval village church. Around junction 38 you cycle through the Duursche Waard: a nature reserve of watercourses, marsh and small-scale forest. In the countryside north of Deventer it is beautiful to cycle through the Salland coulisse landscape. You also pass the Boxbergen estate here. The current manor dates from 1653. In the village of Wesepe you pass the fourteenth-century Nicolaaskerk. Finally, you cycle through the old heart of Deventer, where you can see many monumental buildings.
