Around Budel it is wonderful to cycle through the Kempen. In this cross-border region you will find plenty of natural beauty. Jump on the saddle for a day of Kempen relaxation.
The Wire On quiet roads and cycle paths you cycle through a mosaic of streams, fields, grasslands, deciduous and coniferous forests and heathlands. In short: variety galore! Near junction 216 you come to border post 174. Here is a replica of The Wire, a border barrier built by the Germans during WWI of no less than 332 kilometres along the border between the Netherlands and Belgium.
Kempen-Broek In Belgium too, you drive many kilometres through the forests and farmlands. How wonderfully quiet it is here in the border region! Back in the Netherlands, you pass through the Laurabossen and the IJzeren Man, two beautiful nature reserves that are part of Grenspark Kempen-Broek. You also drive through the forest of the Weerter- and Budelerbergen. After the Cranendonckse Bos, you pass the place where Cranendonck Castle once stood. Via Maarheeze, you drive back to Leenderstrijp.
