De Waal, De Koog and Oudeschild

Texel has a rich and diverse landscape. In addition to polders, the island also has beautiful sandy beaches, dunes, extensive grasslands, large areas of forest and numerous salt marshes. South of the island you will find beautiful large bulb fields in May. A natural phenomenon on Texel is De Slufter, a beautiful area within the dune chain on the northwest side of the island. Bird lovers in particular can enjoy themselves on Texel. In the spring about 100 different bird species breed, but in total more than 300 species have been observed on Texel. Water birds, songbirds and birds of prey are therefore fully represented. Among them are the spoonbill, the dwarf tern, the short-eared owl and a large number of herring gulls. With extensive cycle paths, it is a paradise for a relaxing bike ride. This is the ideal destination for fans of the Wadden Sea. Here you can get a breath of fresh air by the sea or grab a drink on the terrace while looking out over the rippling water. There is always something to see in the harbor, because there are quite a lot of boats moored and cruising around throughout the year. Adjacent to the harbor is a small wadden beach where you can sunbathe or enjoy the water for a while.
