The marl-rich subsoil is porous in many places; groundwater is therefore sensitive to what happens above ground. That is why the groundwater protection areas here are the largest in all of Limburg. No less than 17% of all Limburg's drinking water is extracted here annually.

A beautiful route has been mapped out in this huge area, comparable to about 14,000 football fields. Tomorrow's drinking water flows beneath your wheels, deep in the ground. Enjoy, but responsibly. That means:

• stay on roads and paths;
• do not damage plants;
• take rubbish with you;
