Description
The Mookerhei is a beautiful nature reserve and one of the areas where the drinking water of tomorrow and the day after is located. Every year, approximately 900 million liters of water are extracted here in the municipalities of Mook & Middelaar and Gennep.
To provide extra protection for the groundwater, part of the Mookerhei groundwater protection area is in place. It concerns 380 hectares, which is comparable to about 760 football fields. You can fully enjoy the Mookerhei, but handle it with care! That means:
- stay on roads and paths;
- do not damage plants;
- take rubbish with you;
- keep the dog on a leash and pick up the poop.
