The Maasduinen area is a beautiful area with lots of forest and heathland. In the north of the area (Bergen) and south of De Maasduinen National Park (Hanik), groundwater is pumped up and prepared into drinking water. About 2.6 billion liters of water are extracted here every year. Mountains and parts of Gennep and Venlo drink Maasduinen water.
