The Maas is a source of Limburg's drinking water. This source does require additional purification. More than the naturally cleaner groundwater. This purification takes place in the water production company in Beegden. Every year, 17 billion liters of water are purified here that are intended for (part of) the municipalities of Beesel, Horst aan de Maas, Leudal, Maasgouw, Nederweert, Peel en Maas, Roerdalen, Roermond, Venlo and Venray.

The route leads over the Daalzichtdam. With the dam, WML has separated the former gravel pits Boschmolenplas and De Lange Vlieter. Because no activities are allowed to take place on the water of De Lange Vlieter, WML can properly control the quality of the water here.

Enjoy, but treat the environment with care! That means:

  • stay on roads and trails;
  • do not damage plants;
  • take garbage with you;
  • keep the dog on a leash and clean up the poop.
