Description
The name says it all: the Groote Heide mainly consists of heathland. On the south side there are some fields, poor grassland and forest dominated by conifers. It is an important backyard for the city of Venlo.
To properly protect the groundwater, the entire nature reserve has been designated as a groundwater protection area. This way we can ensure that Venlo's backyard can continue to supply excellent drinking water to the city. This amounts to approximately 4.6 billion liters annually.
Enjoy this route, but treat the environment with care! That means:

- take rubbish with you;
