Walking through dunes and forest on Texel

With this route you make a figure eight through the National Park Dunes of Texel. The first loop takes you over winding paths through the forests of De Dennen. This forest was planted around 1900 on what were then still wild dune lands. Wet and fertile peat soil was put in the planting holes, so that the young pines took root. The name of the forest pavilion is a reminder of the use of peat. You can eat something tasty at't Turfveld before you walk into the dunes. You walk between scrub and heathland towards the sea. You can walk onto the beach to enjoy the sound of the surf. The route takes you further through the dunes, the last part you walk through the forest to Forest Pavilion't Turfveld.
