Walking through dunes and forest on Texel

With this route you make a figure of eight through National Park Duinen van Texel. The first loop leads you over winding paths through the woods of De Dennen. This forest was planted around 1900 on what were then still wild dune grounds. Wet and fertile peat soil was put in the planting holes so that the young pines took root. The name of the forest pavilion still reminds of the use of the peat. You can eat something delicious at't Turfveld before you walk into the dunes. You walk between shrubs and heaths towards the sea. You can step onto the beach to enjoy the sound of the surf. The route takes you further through the dunes, the last part you walk through the forest to Bospaviljoen't Turfveld.
