Put on your walking shoes and explore the surroundings of Zoutkamp. Zoutkamp is a picturesque village in the municipality of Het Hogeland, at the very top of the Netherlands and located at the foot of the Lauwersmeer National Park. It is a fishing village with a close heart and rich history. Zoutkamp used to be a tactically important defensive redoubt. You start at Camping de Rousant. De Rousant is located on a former rugged sandbank that was once part of the wild Lauwerszee. You walk past Fishery Museum Zoutkamp, where you can of course take a look if you are interested.
