Description

With this walk you go back in time and discover the incredible mining heritage of the Région du Centre. The mining village of Bois-du-Luc is unique in Europe because it has preserved all its industrial buildings, its school, its workers' houses and its church. Get on your bike and discover how one of the oldest and most sustainable coal mines in Belgium works.

Continue your tour and discover the Étangs de Strépy and their nature reserve. An incredibly rich flora and fauna that can be discovered just minutes from the city. Fancy a break in this green environment? The Chalet des Étang offers drinks and refreshments at the water's edge.

A few steps further you arrive at the banks of the historic Canal du Centre. Continue your tour to the Hydraulic Boat Lift 3, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the right bank, the machine room building looks like a castle with its neo-Gothic style (visit is possible).
