Description

Your route starts at a beautiful water tower. From here you cycle across the border into the Netherlands and head to Domain De Kleine Witrijt for a cup of coffee. Here you are in a large meadow landscape with wild flowers and herbs. It is named after De Witrijt, which is part of Boswachterij De Kempen. Streams such as the Run and the Aa run around the hamlet of Weebosch. In this stream landscape you see hedgerows, heathlands and pools. Further on you will discover the De Deen mill in Bergeijk. This beautiful belt mill was built in 1839. The mill has been damaged several times but has always been restored and rebuilt. You cycle back via the ponds at Retie. These were created by white sand extraction, the white sand (Quartz sand) is used in washing powder, mobile phones and toothpaste.
