Tour of Blankenberge

The route begins in the charming seaside resort of Blankenberge. It's one of the most important resorts on the Belgian coast and attracts many tourists every year. Throughout the summer, it's very busy here, and the beach is packed with people enjoying the sun and the water. The village boasts several beautiful sights and recreational opportunities, such as St. Rochus Church, the sea wall with its stone steps, the Blankenberge Serpentarium, and the Sea Life Centre Blankenberge, which explores the world of marine flora and fauna. De Haan has also traditionally been a true tourist town. Its favorable coastal location attracts thousands of tourists every year seeking sun, sea, and sand. However, there are few day trippers; most have a holiday home near this resort. Several major events are organized annually, such as the Blessing of the Sea in Wenduine, Tourist Day, the Giants' Festival, and the Vosseslag Festival. A little further along the coast lies the beautiful village of Wenduine. Wenduine is one of the few Belgian coastal municipalities with a dune area. Access to this area is not readily available; efforts are being made to preserve and protect the dunes. However, a walking route runs through the dunes, leading almost all the way back to Blankenberge. On the second-highest dune stands the Spioenkop, a lookout point offering phenomenal views of the beautiful coast. The route starts at Profile Jumpbikes, where you can park your car for free. It's therefore highly recommended to have your bike inspected here by the skilled staff, so you don't end up stranded halfway through the route with a broken-down bike.
