Description

Your cycling route starts at Zwaan Bikes Rotterdam, where you can immediately rent a bicycle. You first drive along the pleasantly winding Rotte, the peat river to which Rotterdam owes its name. It is wonderfully peaceful to cycle along this meandering river to the Bersche Voor- and Achterplas. Then you drive along the Kralingse Plas, through the Kralingse Bos. Here you will see the only two snuff mills in the Netherlands: the Ster from 1866 and the Lelie from 1740. Further on you will pass through the Oude Haven. Here you will see, among other things, the Netherlands' own White House: a 45-meter-high office building from 1898. It was the first skyscraper in Europe at the time. You cycle straight through the city, via Blaak and the Westerzeedijk, back to your starting point.
