The densely built-up glass city of Westland contrasts with the meadows of Midden-Delfland and old towns such as Maassluis, old villages such as Maasland, Schipluiden and't Woud.
Midden-Delfland will be retained as a green buffer between Westland, The Hague and Rotterdam.

The historic city center of Maassluis consists of narrow streets, cozy canals, high bridges, romantic facades, and a busy harbor with historic tugboats. The Groote Kerk is located on the Schanseiland, one of the many churches in the once very God-fearing Maassluis.
