Tour of Steensel, Bergeijk and Luyksgestel

Your cycling route starts at Hotel Restaurant Steensel. You get a taste of history when you cycle through the Kempen. In the past, smugglers and peddlers roamed the land and mainly peasant farmers lived in small farms. Nowadays this country is rich and dirt roads and winding streams run through forests and heathland. Mill De Deen is a windmill from 1839. It got its name in 1968 because the miller came from Denmark. In Bergeijk, Monument Wellington HZ520 commemorates a crashed bomber who took part in a bombing raid on Krefeld, Germany. Ten meters behind the monument, between the trees, you can still see the crater that was created by the crash. In Westerhoven you can make a stopover at Het Wapen van Westerhoven just before the end of the route.
