Walking through the woods near Heino

Between Heino and Raalte, the beautiful woods and meadows of the Reelaer estate appear, dotted with a few stands of trees. The house was built in the early twentieth century with a fortune amassed in the Indonesian sugar industry. This route takes you along the green edge of the estate. After a scenic loop through the countryside and the woods near Heino, you'll arrive at the water retention areas in the Heinosche Vloedgraven. For the Salland Waterproof project, local short-term water retention facilities have been constructed here, capable of holding water for a few hours to a day, preventing flooding elsewhere. It is estimated that these retention facilities will need to be used once or twice a year.
