MDV R2 Around the heart of Midden-Delfland

Midden-Delfland, the green heart of southwest Holland. A small-scale old cultural landscape with the characteristics of the Dutch landscape behind the dunes: low-lying (1 to 3 m below NAP), gently sloping through the old creek ridges and the wet peat areas in between; on those creek ridges old farms and winding roads. Those farms and roads, the old village centres, the many pumping stations, the green quays and the old ditch pattern repeatedly show you the centuries-old history of this area.
This walk takes you through a large part of the Vockestaert area. From Schipluiden you go along the Tramkade to the Buitenplaats Hodenpijn and past the church Op Hodenpijn. Then through the Kerkpolder over the Tanthofkade and the Mantjeskade through the green space of the Noord-Kethelpolder and the Holiërhoekse Polder to the Vlaardingervaart. There with De Trekschuit to the Duifpolder and along the old tram route along the Gaag back to the old village center of Schipluiden with its various sights.
This route has been published by the Paths working group of the Midden-Delfland Association as one of the 15 Day Tours. These day trips vary in length between 18 and 28 km.
