Eight Beatitudes Route Eersel, Steensel and Duizel

In the heart of the Kempen you will find the Acht Zalheden: Eersel, Duizel, Steensel, Knegsel, Wintelre, Reusel, Hulsel and Netersel. In the past, all those place names ended in'sel\\\' and were called'de sellheden\\\', or'de bliss\\\'. But Dutch soldiers who were stationed here during the Belgian Revolution scornfully called the villages'the wretchedness\\\'. But they are beautiful places! With this walking route you explore three of these authentic villages in one go: Eersel, Duizel, Steensel. The route starts with a cup of coffee at Restaurant Lekkerr Steensel. In the village there is a church tower that dates back to the fifteenth century. The route also takes you through the Wolfhoeksche Heide below Knegsel. Enjoy the view over the water at Landgoed Duynenwater, the former E3 beach.
