Description

At the start of the route you cycle through Kerkrade and along the edge of Heerlen. You will pass the ruins of Schaesberg Castle, among other things. This moated castle dates from the 16th century, but unfortunately there is now little left of this impressive castle. Then you cycle through the Brunssummerheide, a rolling area with heaths, forests, bogs and fens. The Strijthagerbeek valley in Landgraaf is the next nature reserve on the route with the meandering Strijthagerbeek. Here you can take a look at the Strijthagermolen from 1617 or stretch your legs and marvel at the Mondo Verde World Gardens.
