Your route starts at MyHotel Meppel. You'll soon drive through the beautiful old town of Staphorst. Here, you'll see one monumental farmhouse after another, typical of the Staphorst style. Thatched and often with doors and shutters painted in their authentic green. Magnificent! The polders are a wonderful place to spend miles, driving along quiet roads. You'll enjoy beautiful views of meadows and fields. You'll also drive through the idyllic Reestdal Valley. Here, you'll see Huis Voorwijk, built in 1791. The main attraction in the region is De Havixhorst Castle, with its Baroque-style gardens. There's also a sculpture garden with some of the finest Dutch figurative art. Before returning to Meppel, stop off at the Reeststouwe Lookout Tower!
