Krimpenerwaard, South Holland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 1279439
Provided by: route.nl
The starting point of this route is the Tea Garden and B&B Onder De Pannen. In the tea garden you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with delicious homemade apple pie in the summer. From here you cycle to Kinderdijk, where there are nineteen windmills in a row along the dikes. The windmills were built around 1740 and are here as part of a larger water management system to prevent flooding. The windmills are known all over the world and are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It doesn't get more Dutch than this! From here you cycle to Schoonhoven. On the way back you cycle along the water and have a beautiful view of the Lek. Then you cycle back to the tea house in Lekkerkerk. Extra fun: during this route you sail on two ferries across the Lek.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
