What could be more fun than exploring Amsterdam on foot? You start at Postillion Hotel Amsterdam, a nice large hotel with a view over the capital. The perfect base to get to know the city and its surroundings better. You can walk at your leisure through the Witbautstraat towards the Zuiderkerk and the Voormalige Spinhuis on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal. Spin houses were the forerunners of factories. You return via the National Monument on Dam Square and the Royal Palace of Amsterdam and walk along the Amstel back to the Postillion Hotel Amsterdam while taking a nice look around you along the way. The Amstel used to be called the Aeme-stelle, the Old Dutch word for'watery area\\\'. Amsterdam owes its name to the Amstel.
