After an overnight stay at Boerencamping Half-Hichtum, on the edge of Bolsward, you get on your bike. If you cycle through Bolsward you will pass the Monsma State, built in 1709 by the mayor. Via the lovely Makkum you drive north along the Wadden Sea, a pleasure on a beautiful day with all the boats and the beautiful water. The Wadden Sea is a shallow sea where mudflats and sandbanks dry up at low tide. The area is of international importance. Numerous birds breed here and many seals are also born here. You will also pass the Afsluitdijk, a beautiful sight. The Eleven Cities city of Harlingen is worth lingering a while. Sea, sailing, cultural heritage, but also nice shops and restaurants: Harlingen is a vibrant city!

Half-Hichtum is a farm campsite, located in a rural area in Friesland. Nearby you will find the picturesque Hanseatic town of Bolsward, the center of the Frisian Eleven Cities. Cycling, walking, but also scooters, boating, swimming, by car or horse and carriage: you can do the Elfstedentocht completely in your own way. Here you can enjoy the peace and space that the Frisian countryside still has to offer. A great base to discover the nice Bolsward and the rest of Friesland, on foot or by bike!

Monsma-state
The Monsma state was built for Sipke Janz. Monsma in 1709. The building has a low pilaster facade and a hipped roof with corner chimneys. The barn was built in the 19th century and now houses a museum.
