Description

This cycle route starts at Hotel Blooker, an ideal base for cyclists. From Renesse on Schouwen-Duiveland you cycle over the Brouwersdam to Goeree-Overflakkee. And back. A beautiful day full of fresh air. Like many other Zeeland villages, Renesse is also built around a ring road. You will see some beautiful buildings here and the sixteenth-century Jacobuskerk. The Brouwersdam was completed in 1971 and is the seventh structure of the Delta Works. On the six and a half kilometre long dam you can enjoy beautiful views over the North Sea and the Grevelingenmeer. On Goeree-Overflakkee you cycle through Stellendam. On the way back you cycle along the Westduinen. During the Second World War, the Germans had placed wooden fake airplanes here to deceive. When the RAF was informed about this by the resistance, they dropped two wooden bombs.
