Walking tour of Hoensbroek: Koumenberg and Castle Passarts-Nieuwenhagen

This walk starts with a cup of coffee at Meeting place De Eettafel in Hoensbroek. Nearby you will discover another Philadelphia care location: Schuttersweide. You continue your walk through the park on the Koumenberg. Here you walk over the slag heap of the former Oranje Nassau III mine. It forms the barrier between Heerlen and Hoensbroek, which otherwise form a continuous area. The mines in the area are all closed now, but the working-class neighborhoods built for the miners can still be seen. You continue to follow the green edge of Hoensbroek and walk back to your starting point via Passarts-Nieuwenhagen Castle, a rectangular mansion and a U-shaped farm. Its history goes back to the fourteenth century. You walk back to your starting point via Villa Dolfijn and Ambulant Limburg.
