Tour of Wierickerschans and Gouda from Bodegraven

Your cycle route starts in Bodegraven, at Brouwerij de Molen. From here you cycle to the Wierickerschans, a fort on the Old Dutch Waterline. In the Disaster Year of 1672, Stadtholder Willem III had his headquarters here. A large part of the countryside was flooded to ward off the French enemy, but when it started to freeze they were able to reach Zwammerdam and Bodegraven where they caused a bloodbath and set everything on fire.
