City walk Hoorn: Oosterpoort and Markermeer

In the historic center of Hoorn in a beautiful old building you will find restaurant café Ridderikhoff. An ideal place to enjoy a cup of coffee, lunch or dinner. Ridderikhoff is a learning and working place for people with a distance to the labor market who have a passion for the hospitality industry. After Amsterdam, Hoorn was the most important port in the area for centuries. Hoorn is the unofficial capital of the West Friesland region and part of the center is a protected cityscape. On the Grote Oost you will see one historic building after the other. You will also walk along the sixteenth-century Oosterpoort, the only remaining city gate in Hoorn. Via the Binnenhaven and Karperkuil you walk out of the city for a look at the beautiful Markermeer.
