City walk Hilversum: Art Nouveau villas and Corversbos

This walking route starts at Grand cafe Nieuw Zuid Hilversum. Along the edge of Landgoed Gooilust you will discover the Corversbos. The forest was once part of the estate, you can still see it in the stately beeches that adorn the area. Via care location De Componisten and meeting place Ambulant Gooi you walk to't Trefpunt, a work and daytime activity location and meeting place in Hilversum. You continue through residential locations Albertus Perkstraat, Gasthuisstraat and Oosterstraat. Hilversum is known for its beautiful villas and you will encounter them more than enough, especially in the historic center. Many buildings were built at the end of the nineteenth century in the characteristic Art Nouveau style, with plant motifs, decorative wrought ironwork and stained glass. Loggias, turrets and bay windows were built with the typical light bricks, in response to the mass production that was emerging at the time.
