During this route you walk around Zaltbommel, a cozy fortified town on the Waal. During the walk you will see the city walls, behind them lies the old and walled part of the city. History can be felt everywhere. The current city walls date from the seventeenth century. Just behind it is the old center with its medieval street pattern and houses from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Did you know that the city was originally called'Bommel\\\'? This name is still popular today.
