Tour of Denekamp, Brecklenkamp and North Deurningen

Your route starts at Papillon Country Resort. Close to the border with Germany, the Twente landscape is beautiful. Denekamp is one of the largest villages in the region. Around the fifteenth century it was still a small village with barely a hundred houses located on the only village street. The Saint Nicholas Church was built in the thirteenth century from Bentheim sandstone. Klooster Noord Deurningen is an old manor and a farm, which probably date from the early thirteenth century. The Franciscan sisters turned it into a convent. There is still an old farmhouse there. The foundation of Havezate Brecklenkamp was laid in 1572. There is a beautifully landscaped park next to the beautiful old house. You can still see the orangery between the trees of the orchard.
