The best of both worlds is combined in this cycle route: the wooded southern area of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the inland area between the city of Veenendaal and the town of Renswoude. Between the trees of the Amerongse and Zuilensteinse forests you will find the pine marten, the red bat, but also many special ground beetles. Various plant species give this part of the sand ridge a varied appearance, while you can also enjoy the conviviality of the cities. You can park your car for free in the parking lot of restaurant De Dennen. The route starts and ends at this restaurant, which is located on the edge of the woods. In 2009, De Dennen celebrated its 75th anniversary. There is no doubt that this is the ideal place to end your cycling tour. The family restaurant is now run by the third Van de Wetering generation and has developed from a cozy café into an excellent restaurant.
