Tour of Chaamse Bossen, Strijbeekse Heide and Alphen

Your cycle route immediately takes you straight through the Chaamse Bossen. This area once consisted of sand drifts, wet heathland and fens. Between 1900 and 1934, much of the heathland was planted with Scots pine and wet areas were converted into grassland. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, many old agricultural areas were restored to their former state, making the area wetter again. On the other side of the woods you cycle through the lovely Alphen. Then you cycle further through Chaam. On the Strijbeekse Heide you will discover the Zwarte Goor and Langven fens. Just before the end of the route you will pass Koetshuis Anneville, originally a tenant farm from 1844.
