Large round Loonse and Drunense Dunes

This bike tour starts with a cup of coffee at Pancake restaurant De Financiën. Enjoy a pancake here right away, then you have a good base for today's bike tour! Then you make a long round through the Loonse & Drunense Duinen National Park, a 3500 hectare nature reserve. It is also sometimes called the Brabant Sahara: nowhere in Europe are there living drifting sands on such a large scale. You also cycle through dense deciduous and coniferous forests, fresh stream valleys and heathlands that turn a beautiful purple in August. In the middle of the nature reserve you cycle through Giersbergen, a hamlet with beautiful monumental thatched farms. Through the forests near De Moer you cycle back to your starting point, via the nice village of Loon op Zand.
