Description
The Grootmeer (one on the other side of the Kleinmeer) was designated as a protected natural monument in 1990 because of their special vegetation. It is one of the few areas in Europe where the overweed association occurs. There is also a population of moor frogs in the fen, a strictly protected species under the Flora and Fauna Act.
