What a varied route this is! First you cycle through the Maasduinen National Park. The river dunes are almost all covered with forest: the only way to protect the fields and pastures from the blowing sand. Further on you pass the Reindersmeer. This lake was created by gravel extraction. At the De Maasduinen Visitor Centre you can learn more about this special area. A ferry takes you across to the unique Maasheggen landscape with its centuries-old oaks and hawthorns. You cycle through the Groeningse Bergen, a river dune that runs parallel to the Maas and protrudes above the water during floods. There were already houses here in Roman times, from which roof tiles and floor tiles have been found. Take a break along the way at Jachthaven Wanssum / Cafe van Wieren!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
