Description

An ideal base for exploring the Westland on foot. There is a surprising amount of natural beauty to experience in Midden-Delfland. First you walk to the Vlietlanden, a never-reclaimed piece of land in the peat area of Midden-Delfland, with flowery meadows and strips of reed collars. Then you walk along the Vlaardingsevaart to the former Rechthuis of Zouteveen, dating from 1651. Nearby you will discover the De Stoelen viewpoint, near the De Trekschuit ferry. From the seats you have a beautiful view of the Vlaardingsevaart, Duifpolder, and Zouteveensepolder. On the Zouteveenseweg in Schipluiden you walk past historic farms, such as Arckesteyn with two lime trees and a beautiful weeping birch on the water. At the Anna Hoeve you will see a characteristic low-stem fruit orchard.
